How we write

We recommend it like it's for our own pets.

Every place, article, and product on Pawrate is researched before you ever see it. The best recommendations come from people with real local experience and are checked by our editorial team, so you don't have to work through hundreds of anonymous reviews to find something you can trust.

How we decide what appears on Pawrate.

The same standards apply to every recommendation we make and every article we publish.

Grounded in real experience.

Recommendations come from local insiders and experienced professionals who know these places first-hand, so you're reading from real experience instead of weighing up hundreds of anonymous ratings yourself.

Reviewed before it reaches you.

Our editorial team researches and checks everything against clear quality criteria before it appears in the app.

No one pays to be recommended.

Placements are never sponsored or shaped by advertising. Anything on Pawrate is here because it convinced us, not because someone paid for it.

How it works

How a recommendation earns its place.

  1. It starts with first-hand experience.

Every place begins with someone who knows it first-hand: a local insider or an experienced pet-care professional who recommends it.

  2. We research it properly.

Our editorial team looks closer at who runs it, what people actually experience there, and whether it lives up to the standard we hold.

  3. We review it against clear criteria.

Every recommendation is checked for quality, safety, and fit, the same way we'd check it for our own dogs and cats.

  4. Only then does it reach the app.

If it meets the standard, we publish it. If it doesn't, it stays out, and we remove anything that no longer measures up.

Articles and guides begin differently: with thorough research, scientific evidence where it matters, and the knowledge of our editorial team. What stays the same is the standard for publishing.

Why there are no star ratings.

Pawrate isn't a rating portal. A single score can't capture what makes a place right for you and your dog, so instead of stars or rankings we curate recommendations and explain what stands out about each one.

Because no two dogs are alike. A place that suits a confident city dog can overwhelm a sensitive one. So rather than a verdict, we tell you who a place is really for and what's worth knowing before you go.

Our standard

If we wouldn't trust it for our own pets, we don't publish it.

Behind every recommendation, article, and guide is the same question: not how we would rate it, but whether we'd pass it on in good conscience.

Know a place worth recommending?

Many of our recommendations come from local insiders: people who know their area well, share the places they love, and stand behind them with their name. If that sounds like you, we'd be glad to hear from you.
